Found on the Acropolis. It has a circular shape and its outer surface is decorated with alternating heads of women, rams and goats. On the upper surface there is a large filling-hole while four nozzles are formed on the periphery of the lamp, on the top of the relief heads. The lamp’s curved bottom, the residue of oxidized iron that has stained and corrupted the marble, as well as the small, shallow drills on top of the women heads suggest that the lamp was hung by an iron suspension system.

The triangular face of the female heads with the flat skull and the wavy hair resembling a wig reflects oriental features of the so-called Daedalic style that flourished in Greece from the second half of the 7th cent. BC. The name derives from the mythical Daedalus who, according to ancient tradition, was a great architect, sculptor and founder of monumental sculpting.
